About

Cassi Plate was born in Sydney and grew up in the bush at Woronora River, youngest of three sisters and a brother.

Cassi Plate is a curator, writer and former ABC broadcaster (Triple J, Radio National, Territory Radio and ABC Radio Sydney). Radio features include the 'Feminist Theory Series' and 'The Practicalities of a Land Claim' (copy acquired by IATSIS).
She studied and taught media and communications, curates exhibitions and publishes widely in journals, newspapers and magazines. She lives and works between Sydney and the South Coast of NSW on Wangal and Jerringa Land.

Monster & Colossus is her second book of cultural history, after Restless Spirits (2005). Monster & Colossus is inspired by the discovery of 100 letters between Carl Plate and Costas Taktsis, the writer of the most celebrated modern Greek novel. It reveals a cosmopolitan Australia in the post-war decades, during times of immense cultural and social change.
